Coolmore Horse Stud, Jerrys Plains NSW

HydroPlan designed a new pumping station and irrigation system for this international horse stud in NSW.

The pumping station can draw 300 L/s from the river using a 500kW VFD control package.

The 323ha pasture irrigation system uses mobile irrigators and fixed sprinklers.

About Us > Principals > David Bedingfeld

After obtaining degrees in Engineering and Agriculture, David began his irrigation and drainage career in the early 1970's in the United Kingdom, and was responsible for design and supervision of overhead, pivot and drainage systems throughout Europe and Africa.

He worked in Swaziland, South Africa, Nigeria and Indonesia, where he worked for several well-known international engineering firms and was involved in design and supervision of large projects including sugar, citrus, turf, golf and dust suppression.

After moving to Brisbane, David spent over a decade travelling to China and throughout SE Asia to provide technical and management support to local distributors and consultants on golf, turf and agricultural irrigation systems.

David joined HydroPlan in 2003 to develop the business in China and the regions. After spending 5 years in Beijing to establish engineering staff in the local office he returned to a Brisbane base where he remains in charge of the team and in touch with the impressive client list in China, Asia and the Middle East.

David is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Certified Irrigation Designer (Golf), and Associate Fellow of Australian Institute of Management Member. He is also a Member of Institution of Agricultural Engineers, Institution of Water and Environmental Management, and the American Society of Irrigation Consultants.
