Willunga Basin Reclaimed Water Pipeline

Primageone11

The Willunga Basin Pipeline is a large reclaimed water scheme which is owned and operated by its water users. Despite being funded without government assistance, it continues to expand, providing a catalyst for economic growth, replacing stressed groundwater and reducing nutrient discharge to the sea.

About Us > Principals > John Gransbury

John has specialized in irrigation design and project management since graduating as a Civil Engineer from University of Adelaide over 30 years ago. He is a Certified Irrigation Designer (agricultural drip/micro), a Certified Irrigation Agronomist, and the President of the Australian Chapter of the American Society of Irrigation Consultants.

In the first part of his career John worked for equipment manufacturers designing and supervising construction of irrigation projects; for 3 years in the Middle East and then 5 years in Australia and Asia. In 1986 after recognizing the growing demand for independent design services, he started HydroPlan's office in Adelaide.

John has hands-on experience in creating many types and sizes of irrigation projects from re-use and ASR to council parks and community pipelines. His reputation is built from practical and outside-the-square solutions that are more reliable, cost-effective, efficient and robust. He is often included in HydroPlan design teams to provide oversight on technical matters from contract management to hydraulic modelling and pump station design.
