Homebush Bay - Olympic 2000 site
Although famous for being the central venue to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Stadium 2000 holds many varied sporting and social events. Therefore, designing the irrigation system proved a complicated task.
The area would not be greater than a hectare but required careful positioning of the 40 sprinkler heads as each is individually controlled.
HydroPlan were also conscious of water sources, and were able to reclaim and utilise water from the stadium roof.
Since the games, HydroPlan was commissioned to conduct a comprehensive audit of global irrigation demands in the site including landscaping and sportsfields for the Tennis Centre, Millenium Mounds, Althletes Village and Swimming Centre. Many of these irrigation systems were designed and implemented by HydroPlan before the Olympics.
