HydroPlan were engaged to prepare detailed designs, tender documentation and project management of a new irrigation system for 100 hectares of pastures grazing paddocks and holding yards for a thoroughbred horse breeding facility. The system also provides irrigation water to an existing 80 hectare irrigated area.
The pumping plant consisted of four separate systems with a total duty of 400 litres per second consisting of:
- Two submersible river lift pump stations each with a duty of 400 L/s supplying a 150 kL balance tank
- A water transfer pump station with a duty of 180 L/s to supply an existing irrigation pump station located approximately 1 km from the river site
- An irrigation pump station with a duty of 210 L/s supplying pressure boosting for up to 13 high pressure travelling irrigators
- A stock and domestic water supply with a duty of 10 L/s.
The pumping plant is operated by a PLC control package that links and monitors the pumping network.
