James Sullivan

After graduating from University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, James honed his irrigation system design and construction skills at two Adelaide businesses for 7 years before taking national and international roles with Rain Bird in Melbourne for several years. Fortunately for HydroPlan he returned to Adelaide to become a Project Consultant and this led to his current role as International Project Consultant.

James developed a remote management service for 32 commercial irrigation systems, including an audit of plant-soil-water issues and compliance reporting where restrictions on water use applied. Many of these systems achieved impressive outcomes using high-tech subsurface drip irrigation, monitoring devices, and fertiliser injection.

As the GSP Engineer (Global Service Plan) James provided technical suppport to leading irrigation operators over a wide area. He was responsible for certifying that systems had been installed and commissioned to agreed standards. He also built databases for the sophisticated central irrigation controllers, and trained the operators.

Since joining HydroPlan, James has conducted many system audits and GPS surveys, delivered many designs and specifications, and helped many clients achieve their irrigation goals. Many of these system utilise recycled water from treated wastewater and stormwater, often with potable backup supplies.

James is the Principal Consultant of the Adelaide office, and is often leads on Australian and International projects.
